FIRST ANNUAL UASC CRAB FEED FUNDRAISER A SUCCESS

FIRST ANNUAL UNITED ANGLERS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CRAB FEED FUNDRAISER A SUCCESS

Next Fundraising Event Is UASC Poker Tournament September 26th

The first annual United Anglers of Southern California Crab Feed Fundraiser Saturday, August 15 was a success, any way you slice it.   Big pots of crab were boiling, shells were cracking away and plenty of people were digging in with buttery smiles on their faces.  Add to that a bunch of cool door prizes, raffle goodies and silent auction items, and you’ve got a recipe for a fun and “full” filling evening.

A good crowd turned out for this first-of-its-kind event, designed to raise much-needed funds while inviting friends and members to check out UASC’s new headquarters in Signal Hill, generously donated by the Alamitos Bay Sportsmens Club.    Guest enjoyed all-they-could-eat plates of crab, along with rice, salad and bread, with apple pie to finish.    As an extra treat, a couple of lobsters were auctioned off and cooked on the spot for hungry guests.

While people were digging in at tables set up in the parking lot,
UASC President Steven Fukuto and Vice President Dan Fink called the
names of lucky raffle and prize winners.   Chris Stavaridus was the
lucky winner of the grand door prize, a two-speed Avet reel worth
$300.    Those who purchased spots on the UASC Raffle Board had a shot
at winning a variety of valuable items, including fishing equipment,
apparel, accessories and more.  A special silent auction gave guests a
chance to bid on great prizes ranging from fishing rods/reels to framed
artwork to entertainment packages.

The UASC Board of Directors
was well represented, with Chairman Dave Elm, Secretary Bob Clarke,
Treasurer John Riordan, past Chairman Tony Infante, Dick Schafer and
Jim Hendricks in attendance.   Several special guests also attended,
including Marty Golden of NOAA National Fisheries Service;  Ben
Hamilton, NOAA National Seafood Inspection Division (retired), John
Bolke, Jerry Miller and Ray Eichel, representing the Alamitos Bay
Sportsmens Club; Steve Ichinokuchi, Izorline and Dennis Yamamoto, Owner
Hooks.

“There are so many people to thank for making this
event possible,” said Fukuto, “beginning with event organizers Tim
Baker, Mike Lum and Howard Coolidge and his sons Rowland, Brant and
Nolan.  Our UASC staff put in extra time doing everything from setting
up to taking tickets to waiting on tables.   I’m especially grateful to
Lenny Vu, Robin Osborn and Jennifer Fukuto for their hard work.    And
last, but far from least, the companies and individuals who donated
prizes — Fred Hall & Associates, Tim Minaka of FIA Insurance
Services, Inc., Irv Grisbeck of the Big Game 90, Owner Hooks, Dick
Schafer of Purfield Pro Tackle in Marina Del Rey and Eldorado
Sportfishing.”

The next big UASC fundraising activity will be
the Annual UASC Poker Tournament.  This fun event takes place on
Saturday, September 26 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in
Temecula.   Call UASC at (562) 494-9900 or visit www.unitedanglers.com
